LCM+L Holiday Campaign
For Living Computers’ 2018 holiday campaign, they wanted to leverage the success of their popular exhibit Totally 80s Rewind and the pure nostalgic joy that it sparked in visitors. Working with the executive director, I developed an idea for campaign around opening the latest tech on Christmas morning. I pulled vintage computer and game boxes and equipment from the museum collection, purchased matching pajamas, and staged a photoshoot inside the basement of our 80s exhibit. Photographer Sabel Roizen snapped pictures and provided lighting as well as editing for the final photos. From there, I worked on developing the best copy for the various channels where we’d need to place advertisements for this holiday campaign. Combining the “joy of Christmas morning” with the value proposition of Living Computers - computers and tech that you can actually use - I created a playful set of non-denominational holiday designs. “Those gifts you always wanted? Yeah, we have them… And yes, you can play with them.”

Inspiration
We wanted to capture the feeling of waking up on Christmas morning to find THAT toy that you had to have. I searched through the internet archives for images like this one.

Inspiration
On of the things I noticed quickly about these holiday scenes was the prevalence of very adorable pajamas. I used these as a visual reference (along with snowflakes) instead of a Christmas tree, so that we could keep the advertisements non-denominational but still with a holiday theme.

Billboard
The final billboard design incorporated a much simpler message and a stronger contrast for readability. The design was featured in downtown Seattle at Boren/Olive, on the West Seattle bridge, and at Factoria Mall in Bellevue.
